EcoVadis’ Toronto headquarters embodies their mission of advancing sustainability in business. Designed as a living example of circular design, the workplace prioritizes reuse, low-impact materials, and biophilic comfort. The result is a fresh, functional, and human-centered office that redefines what sustainable work environments can look and feel like.
Moving out of a co-working environment and into its first permanent space in Toronto marked a pivotal moment for EcoVadis. They envisioned a workplace with clear zones transitioning between quiet and active areas, light and bright natural flow, a thoughtful mix of materials and varied ceiling treatments.
To make their purpose and brand visible and tangible. Our recommendation was clear; if this headquarters was to reflect who they are, it needed to be a living, breathing example of efficiency, comfort and sustainability, not just in outcome, but in process.
The design challenge was multi-dimensional. Functionally, the space needed to support a growing North American team. Strategically, it had to introduce EcoVadis to the Canadian market with clarity and confidence. Culturally, it needed to carry forward the brand’s European identity while adapting to local context. And critically, it had to do all this while upending industry norms that remain fundamentally unsustainable.
Every element from carbon-neutral flooring, locally sourced finishes, occupancy-sensor lighting, and third-party verified Life Cycle Analyses, was chosen to lower the embodied carbon impact. 95% of the furniture was repurposed, refurbished, and remanufactured. Biophilic touches, including a moss wall and indoor trees, added vibrancy and calm.
